In 1962 in Prague, Don Jackson wowed nine judges, 18,000 spectators and 250,000,000 television viewers when he performed the first triple lutz jump in competition, scoring seven perfect marks to become the first Canadian male ever to win the World Championships.
Don Jackson goes down in history as the "King of Blades" as this Oshawa skater was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1977. Jackson began a figure skater dynasty for Canadian male skaters which continues today. Among his many achievements, for the last 16 years Don Jackson has been Executive Director and coach at the Minto Skating Club in Ottawa. He also continues to work with skaters in the Special Olympics programs in Ottawa and has produced World Champions at the Special Olympics. As well, he teaches power skating to young hockey players.
